Sea Kayak Taster Sessions

Entry level: Beginners

Target level: Introduction to sea kayaking

Using our extensive range of sea kayaks, why not come and join us for an evening voyage on the tidal waters of the river Itchen .

For those with some previous experience and the ability to paddle in a straight line.

Open to adults only.

Time: 6.00pm - 8.00pm

Sea Kayak Introduction

Entry level: BCU 1 Star

Target level: Competence in a sea kayak

One day course aimed at those thinking of taking up sea kayaking. Based on local tidal waters, we will look at both basic boat handling techniques and sonme simple theory.

For those with some previous paddling experience.(1 Star standard)

Open to adults only.

Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm

Sea Kayak Improvers

Entry level: BCU 2 Star standard

Target level: Improve sea kayak skills and experience

Improve those sea kayak skills with our experienced and enthusiastic instructors

For those with previous canoeing experience (2 Star standard).

Open to adults only.

Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm.

Course Fee: £70

Sea Kayak Day Trips

Entry level: BCU 2 Star standard

Target level: Improve sea kayak skills and experience

Experience the delights of sea kayaking whilst exploreing the harbours and inlets in and around the Solent. Ideal qualifying trips for those working towards th4 star award. Previous experience required: 2 star standard. Destination dependent upon weather and group.

For those with previous canoeing experience (2 Star standard).

Open to adults only.

Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm.

Sea Kayak Rescue/rough water techniques

Aim: Develop your sea kayaking skills in advanced conditions

A one day course aimed at introducing sea kayakers to techniques used in more advanced sea conditions.

For those with previous sea star kayak experience (3 Star standard) A reliable roll would be a distinct advantage as you will be in and out of the water allday.

Open to adults only.

Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm.

Course Fee: £80

Sea Kayak 3 Star Sea Training

Entry level: BCU 2 Star standard

Target level: BCU 3 Star Sea

For kayakers working towards 3 Star assessment who feel the need to fine-tune their skills. Concentrating on practical skills such as boat handling and rescues. We will also look at the theoretical aspects of the syllabus. Focusing on planning a coastal journey including tides, chartwork, weather forecasting ans sea safety

Previous experience is required. 2 Star standard plus relevant sea kayak experience

Course Fee: £150.00

Assessment based upon the 3 star award syllabus

Entry level: BCU 3 Star standard

Target level: BCU 4 Star Sea

For those who have completed the minimum number of 1 day expeditions. The 4 star test is required before attending a level 3 coach training course.
