Two star syllabusCourse Length: 1 Day Time: 9am to 4:30pm
This course is very intensive and covers all the main techniques and manoeuvres required to paddle efficiently on tidal waters. You will spend a good deal time practicing your personal paddling skills, to include reverse paddling, maintaining your direction, rolling and supporting with the rescue techniques of deep water, towing and Eskimo rescue. The theory element to the course covers the equipment, environment awareness, first aid, planning and much more. You will leave the course with a personalised action plan to take with you to assessment.

Three Star sea syllabusCourse Length: 2 Day Time: 9am to 4:30pm
The course will enable you as a paddler to practice your skills and techniques in an open canoe with the introduction of further skills and techniques. You will be expected to demonstrate all the skills on both sides of the craft, these will include support strokes, entering, crossing and exiting a simple flow, poling and also sailing. Rescue techniques will be incorporated including self and deep water rescue with towing practice. You will leave with a personalised action plan to take you to assessment.

Your assessment will cover the BCU three star syllabus using suitable waters in the south west of England or south Wales. Candidate will be required to provide evidence of at least three journeys on sheltered water and three on moving water.

This one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.
RYA First Aid Course InformationCourse Length: 1 Day Time: 9am to 4:30pm
This course covers the use of VHF Radio, principles of operation and mayday distress operations. The course is suitable for people with no experience or for those who have completed a VHF prior to the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). The GMDSS became fully operational in 1999. This added Digital Selective Calling (DSC) to the radio. The course will be taught using radio simulators and will be examined by a short written test.
